The 3rd installation of the Gourmet Series was a big hit!

The Desaru Coast Gourmet Series came back with its third instalment over the last weekend of June. The exclusively curated 6-series dining journey took place at The Elephant & The Butterfly Poolside Bar & Grill, Hard Rock Desaru Coast. The event transported patrons on a casual yet exceptional gastronomical experience like no other.

Themed ‘A Malaysian Journey: Turn up Your Senses’, the 3rd installation featured award-winning chef Raymond Tham, Executive Chef of Skillet At 163 and his Malaysian rendition of Tapas style dining. Visitors and locals alike rediscovered the iconic Malaysian flavours with the unique Spanish dining concept.

Roslina Arbak, Chief Executive Officer of Desaru Development Holdings One Sdn. Bhd. (DH1) said, “Each installment featured an amazing chef with their own specialties, who showcased their own representation of Malaysian dishes through ingredients, techniques and presentation,” she added “The 3rd Gourmet Series installment showcased the unique flavours from all around Malaysia in one place.”

“Malaysian cuisine is everything to me. Each culture has their own stories to tell and flavours to contribute, making Malaysian food very colourful thanks to our diverse background. We also have unique ingredients in our country that aren’t so common elsewhere, which makes it special to me,” said Chef Tham.

The 3rd Gourmet Series dinner session featured a twist on fine dining, based on the authentic standing tapas dining experiences from Spain. The Elephant and The Butterfly restaurant at the HRDC provided guests with a unique Free & Easy poolside dining experience that surprised every patron’s palettes.
This installment of the Malaysian Journey was the most diverse one yet with dishes ranging from all around Malaysia. The 5 Course Menu included Laksa made with liquid nitrogen, Caviar farmed from sturgeons bred in Malaysia and Beta Truffles re-created with the use of Cendawan Kukur and 24K Gold!

The Menu was curated to help guests turn up their senses through its exquisite interpretations of traditional and familiar Malaysian flavours. Designed to excite and engage, the 5-course meal that embodies the hallmark palates of the different districts through ingredients and techniques.

The Desaru Coast Gourmet Series was a part of the ‘Desaru Coast Live Series’, a curation of events focusing on sports, lifestyle and entertainment. The next event that took place was the Ombak Festival at the Desaru Coast Riverside which saw a good turnout as well.
