Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) made history on 28 June 2026 by becoming the first Malaysian team to win the Pro-Am class in the gruelling 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps endurance race in Belgium.

According to a statement posted on The Royal Johor Facebook page, Tunku Panglima of Johor, Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, and Tunku Putera of Johor, Tunku Abu Bakar, finished first in the Pro-Am category of the world’s most prestigious GT3 race, along with teammates Ben Greene and Jordan Love.

It went on to say that this was JMR’s third appearance in the prestigious race, and the victory was made even sweeter by the fact that the royal duo won together.

Tunku Abdul Rahman expressed his excitement and gratitude for the historic victory in the world’s largest GT3 race.

“Our machine functioned really well throughout the race, and we even received extraordinary support from General Motors (GM). The whole team performed superbly over the weekend.

“We could feel the determination of every team member as we sought victory. As drivers, we are limited to certain aspects; everything depends on the cooperation of the entire team,” he said in the statement posted on The Royal Johor Facebook page.

Meanwhile, Tunku Abu Bakar said the victory was an incredible feeling, achieved in his second appearance in the race.

“Every hour during the race was chaotic. It felt like we’ve won the entire championship. I am very proud of the effort put in by the whole team in achieving this victory,” he said.

According to the statement, team JMR will continue their challenge in this season’s endurance race at the 50th edition of the Suzuka 1000KM, which will be held on the historic Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture, Japan, from 11 to 13 September 2026.
