Johor Premium Outlets, home to Southeast Asia’s largest fast-charging electric vehicle (EV) hub, has announced that its EV charging facilities will now operate 24 hours a day.

This enhancement is designed to better support the growing community of EV drivers who require reliable and accessible charging beyond standard retail hours, while reinforcing Johor Premium Outlets’ long-term commitment to sustainability and future-ready infrastructure.

In 2025, Johor Premium Outlets cemented its position as a regional EV hub with the announcement of the introduction of 500 EV charging stations and Southeast Asia’s first publicly accessible 1MW fast charger. Building on this milestone, the centre now offers a dedicated charging zone with 50 chargers, enabling seamless access for EV users at any time of day.

“The extension to round-the-clock operations marks a significant step forward in supporting the evolving needs of EV drivers,” said Jean Marie Pin Harry, President and Chief Operating Officer of Genting Simon Sdn Bhd. “As EV adoption accelerates, charging behaviour is no longer confined to retail hours. With high-speed charging capabilities, drivers especially cross-border travellers, can enjoy quick and efficient top-ups during short stopovers. This allows them to continue their journeys with minimal downtime.”

Beyond infrastructure, Johor Premium Outlets continues to strengthen its position as a comprehensive EV hub through broader ecosystem initiatives. These include ongoing efforts to support EV-friendly mobility such as EV shuttle services, EV car rental accessibility, and the integration of environmentally conscious practices across the centre. Together, these initiatives reinforce its role in advancing sustainable transport solutions within the region.

The charging area has been thoughtfully designed with both safety and convenience in mind. The premises are supported by on-ground security personnel, CCTV monitoring, and well-lit surroundings to ensure visibility and peace of mind at all hours. Additional amenities include vending machines located near the charging stations, along with restroom facilities accessible throughout the day and night.

“With up to 1MW of charging capacity and a comprehensive mix of charging options, our hub is purpose-built to serve a broad spectrum of EVs – from earlier-generation models to next-generation high-capacity platforms – delivering efficient, future-ready charging at scale,” added Jean Marie. “Delivering high-capacity, future-ready charging infrastructure is fundamental to enabling Malaysia’s low-carbon transition. By improving accessibility and supporting higher utilisation, this hub contributes to accelerating EV adoption and advancing the nation’s sustainability agenda.”
