The JCorp Group Sustainability & Yayasan JCorp Open Day 2026 marked a significant milestone for Johor Corporation (JCorp) with the introduction of its first integrated Group-level platform dedicated to sustainability, collaboration and community participation, translating long-term commitments into tangible social and environmental impact.

The two-day programme, which began on the 26th of April 2026, was officiated by Ling Tian Soon, Chairman of the Johor State Health and Environment Committee, reflecting strong state-level support for sustainability-driven and community-focused initiatives.

The Open Day underscores JCorp Group’s commitment to advancing inclusive and responsible growth through initiatives aligned with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A key highlight of the Open Day was the exchange of three strategic collaboration documents, reflecting a shared commitment to sustainability, cultural vitality and inclusive socio‑economic development through long‑term, cross‑sector partnerships.

The exchanges involved Yayasan JCorp with the Johor Sustainability Centre (JSC) and the Johor State Forestry Department; Yayasan JCorp with Tourism Johor; as well as Yayasan JCorp with the Johor Skills Development Centre and Perbadanan Hal Ehwal Bekas Angkatan Tentera (PERHEBAT).

The strategic partnership between Yayasan JCorp, JSC, and the Johor State Forestry Department aims to strengthen forest conservation, carbon management and climate resilience through carbon sequestration assessments and forest rehabilitation programmes.

Under this collaboration, the Johor State Forestry Department provides technical leadership in flora and ecosystem management, identifies suitable forest sites and facilitates the necessary state‑level approvals through the Johor State Executive Council (MMK).

These efforts are complemented by JSC’s data processing capabilities and Yayasan JCorp’s community engagement initiatives, which mobilise local schools and youth groups in environmental stewardship.

Guided by JCorp’s Membela framework, the initiative translates sustainability commitments into tangible ecological benefits and long‑term value for the State of Johor.

In addition, the collaboration between Yayasan JCorp and Tourism Johor will see the implementation of the Pentas Seni Johor Road Tour (Johor Arts Stage Road Tour), a cultural initiative designed to empower communities, support local talents and strengthen the creative economy, while advancing the Visit Johor 2026 agenda and the national tourism campaign.

The third collaboration, involving Yayasan JCorp, the Johor Skills Development Centre and PERHEBAT, will implement the Skills Programme for Retirees, which focuses on reskilling and upskilling military retirees to support second‑career opportunities, employability and entrepreneurship in line with current industry needs.

Zaidatul Zurita Abdul Rahman, Chief Sustainability and Social Impact Officer of JCorp, said the open day represents a significant step in translating the group’s sustainability commitments into meaningful community outcomes.

“By bringing our sustainability efforts onto one integrated platform for the first time, we are demonstrating how creating value goes beyond financial performance and delivers tangible social and environmental benefits for the wider community,” she said.

She added that effective delivery of sustainability outcomes depends on strong partnerships and collective participation.

“Through strategic collaborations and the Membela framework, we are able to turn sustainability aspirations into action. When communities and partners come together, sustainability becomes a shared responsibility that drives lasting impact.”

Meanwhile, Rozaini Mohd Sani, Chairman of Yayasan JCorp, emphasised the importance of partnerships in ensuring sustainability initiatives are well-governed and future-focused.

“The collaborations formalised today strengthen our ability to empower communities, nurture local talent and address social and environmental priorities in a responsible and sustainable manner,” he said.

He added that Yayasan JCorp remains committed to delivering impact beyond individual programmes.

“As a trustee of community trust, Yayasan JCorp ensures that every initiative is guided by accountability and long-term impact so that benefits continue to be felt by future generations.”

Beyond the strategic collaboration exchanges, the Open Day features a diverse and inclusive range of activities designed to encourage broad community participation.

These include exhibitions by JCorp Group companies such as KPJ Healthcare Berhad, Johor Plantations Group Berhad, JLG Group, Waqaf An-Nur, Koperasi and Johor Skills, highlighting sustainability efforts across healthcare, education, skills development and community empowerment.

The programme also includes Pesta Batu 5 live music performances by Pentas Seni Johor and a Zapin Johor workshop.

Pentas Seni Johor was first launched in 2024 at B5 Johor Street Market and officiated by Raven Kumar a/l Krishnasamy, chairman of the Johor State Committee for Unity, Heritage and Culture.

The initiative has since expanded to additional locations across Johor Bahru, strengthening broader community participation throughout the city. Complementing these activities are artisan workshops, a colouring competition and food stalls operated by local vendors, supporting local livelihoods and fostering community engagement.

The event also features inclusive community activities, including The Neurodivergent Raya Fun Run 2026, held at UTM, Skudai, involving 300 participants.

Organised by the Persatuan Kanak Kanak Autisme Islam Johor Bahru, the run provides a safe and supportive platform for neurodivergent individuals, their families and the wider public to participate together.

This is complemented by Waste to Wonders, a drive-through recycling initiative first introduced in 2024 in conjunction with the launch of the Recycle Hub at B5 Johor Street Market.

This initiative now contributes to over 146 tonnes of waste diverted from landfills by Yayasan Johor Corporation to date, not counting what we collected this weekend, a powerful signal that the public is ready to act alongside us.

As the dedicated “Membela” arm of Johor Corporation (JCorp), Yayasan JCorp translates the group’s commitment to improving environmental and social well-being through impactful initiatives, expanding opportunity across Johor and Malaysia.
