Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan, Deputy Minister of Public Works, has officiated the Acceptance Letter (SST) Handover Ceremony for two high-impact road projects in the state of Johor. Dato’ Sri Ir. Roslan bin Ismail, Director-General of Public Works, handed over the letters to two selected contractor companies, one for a project under the Ministry of Public Works (KKR) and the other under the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW).
The first project is the Pasir Gudang Highway (FT17) Upgrade Project from the Perling Interchange to the North-South Highway Exit, Pasir Gudang, Johor. This project involves the upgrade of the existing 7.0 km road to increase capacity from four lanes to six two-way lanes in a major industrial corridor connecting Tebrau, Taman Kobena, and Pasir Gudang Port.
The RM174.53 million project, which began on 3rd December 2025, is expected to be completed by December 2028 and aims to reduce the traffic congestion that frequently occurs during peak hours. It is very important as it will also serve as a catalyst for the smooth flow of the industrial supply chain and the operational efficiency of logistics in the area.
The second project is the New Construction Project from Kampung Gembut Road to Kampung Teluk Baharu, Sedili Besar, Kota Tinggi. This project involves the construction of a new 3.1 km road and a 320-metre bridge across the Sedili Besar River to provide a safer and more efficient alternative route for the local residents.
The route currently used by local residents is a narrow and long plantation road, which makes it difficult for them, especially during rain or monsoon season. Travel time is expected to be reduced from 45 minutes to only 15 minutes once this new road project is completed. The project, valued at RM62.11 million, will start on 17th December 2025 and is scheduled for completion in December 2028.
SST has been issued for 54 road projects nationwide as of 1st December 2025, with a total value of RM2.96 billion. Out of this, 18 projects are under KKR, involving a cost of RM1.77 billion, while 36 projects are under KKDW, involving a cost of RM1.19 billion. This achievement is evidence of the MADANI Government’s commitment to implementing planned and orderly public infrastructure projects for the convenience and well-being of people in both urban and rural areas while at the same time stimulating the national construction industry.
The handover of the SST in Johor reflects the ongoing efforts of KKR and KKDW in strengthening the provision of the country’s public infrastructure, while also enhancing the mobility and inclusivity of the people and communities between urban and rural areas. In line with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, KKR remains committed to providing a quality, sustainable, enduring, and safe road network for the well-being of the people.
