Dine@Eight Restaurant was eager to have The Iskandarian over for their Thai-themed buffet dinner, which promises an array of mouth-watering Thai delicacies in its natural surroundings that we were equally excited about. Did they meet our expectations? They exceeded it!
We were first greeted with the freshest Seafood on Ice, and I then had a good time picking up a must have for Thai snack – Miang Kham, a wrap of leaves with fillings of sugar and spices. Seeing this on the buffet is a nice surprise.
My fixation was on the many greens available from Yam-Som-O, a mix of red pomelo, coconut flakes, shrimps, crab meat, cilantro and lime juice, to the colourful Rainbow Salad, made up of spinach, purple cabbage, red capsicum, carrots and cilantro. I’m pretty sure you will get more vitamins from this buffet!
Since we’re talking Thai food, my eyes were roving for Pad Thai – hot from the stove laid beside the tasty Thai Black rice, which I just had to take a portion of and pair it with the steaming hot, sweet and spicy Thai Red Curry Duck with Fruit Cocktail and Thai Chicken Green Curry.
Any big fan of Tom Yam would be delighted to find Tom Khai Gai, a chicken coconut soup that has a clear, tasty broth for you to rinse the spices you have just taken up. A sip of that and you can imagine yourself at Krabi, just relaxing in the serene island’s breeze.
The perfect conclusion to this Thai buffet was the sweet and refreshing Fresh Coconut Jelly. My friend had a good time eating her favourite Mango Sticky Rice, served individually with generous bits of mangoes inside each small dish.
