Chin Li Qin, 26, from Taman Bukit Mewah, Johor, was named the most fuel-efficient driver for the Southern region on 26 March 2023, at the first regional Shell FuelSave 95 Challenge 2023 in Johor Bahru.
The Southern Shell FuelSave 95 Challenge 2023 began with five drivers competing for the best fuel mileage with the New + Improved Shell FuelSave 95, with only 0.20 KM/L points separating Li Qin and the first runner up.
Li Qin and the other four contestants, Woon Shu Hieuy, Tan Mei Ling, Ng Siow Ngoh, and Khairul Helmy, were chosen from approximately 300 applicants during the New + Improved FuelSave 95 Activation at Mid Valley South Key, Johor Bahru, with the sole goal of finding the Malaysian who could achieve the best mileage on one full tank.
The drive Challenge began at Shell Jalan Tun Abul Razak and travelled through Jalan Sultan Ismail, Lebuhraya Nusajaya, Second Link Expresway, Jalan Kota Tinggi, and back to the Shell station, covering 86.5 kilometres on various types of roads.
Li Qin was the most efficient driver, clocking 25.45 KM/L, followed by Shu Hieuy (25.20 KM/L), Mei Ling (25.12 KM/L), Siow Ngoh (24.34 KM/L), and Khairul (24.20 KM/L).
Li Qin won an RM5,000 cash prize and a place in the Grand Finale of the national level drive challenge, where she will compete against other regional winners for the RM20,000 grand prize. The other contestants received an RM500 Fuels Voucher + Shell Helix FuelSave 4L as consolation prizes.
“I was hesitant to join the Shell FuelSave 95 Challenge in the first place; however, my mother convinced me that I should give it a try. I did not expect to be selected out of hundreds of applicants. While behind the wheel, I kept a calm mind throughout the journey and was glad to learn ways to achieve the best mileage in the challenge. I am really excited to compete with other regional winners at the national level,” said Chin Li Qin.
The New + Improved Shell FuelSave 95 has been specifically designed with its new formulation to last up to 15 kilometres (KM) longer per tank. Shell is still looking for the most fuel-efficient drivers in other regions in order to find the ONE Malaysian who gets the best petrol mileage with the New + Improved Shell FuelSave 95.
