The state government intends to spend RM3.84 million to add nine new free bus routes, known as the Johor Muafakat Bus (BMJ).

Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh, State Works, Transport and Infrastructure Committee chairman stated that one of the nine new routes proposed was in the Kota Tinggi District Council area.

“The proposed route is from Bandar Kota Tinggi to Tanjung Sedili, with four trips per day. The proposed addition of the new route was submitted at the State Government Meeting last year,” he said.

He said this while answering a question from Muszaide Makmor, Sedili Assemblyman on the public transport facility service initiative at the Second Meeting of the First Term of the 15th Johor State Assembly (DUN) in Kota Iskandar, Johor.

Mohamad Fazli, who is also the Bukit Pasir State Assemblyman, said the proposal for the proposed additional BMJ route was still in the process of being finalised.

“The Johor Public Transport Corporation (PAJ) will conduct a procurement process to appoint a qualified operator to operate on the route if the process of finalising the clause with the state government has been completed,” he said.

Muafakat Johor Bus Service (BMJ) is a free bus service for Malaysian citizens that have been implemented since 2016.
