After a long wait, the building nearby Midvalley Southkey with the word “Opera” emblazoned on it, which could be seen from afar, has finally opened its doors, just in time for the buffet season for us to enjoy its food and beverages.
Their first ever buka puasa buffet to Johor Bahru folks, ‘Bazaar Makan-Makan’ has impressed me in a lot of ways!
As a fasting person who breaks it with sweet items, it was a pleasant surprise for me to be having a full slice of a whole, fluffy, rainbow cake, from their dessert table that is also filled with Malay cakes like pulut panggang and assorted kuih talam. My friend did not hesitate to pick up a sweet soft serve for some cold treats.
I was quick to catch on to the Kambing Quzi’s aroma and it is easily my favourite main dish for that night. For some reason, the potato gnocchi placed on the western sides perfectly blends with the lamb roast, you should try it too!
Executive Chef Mahady is adamant about ushering us to the bazaar part which is made up of everything you could find in Malaysia’s bazaar with the comfort of four-star hospitality. The beautiful clear vinyl tent with fairy lights made it seem like we were really walking under the stars, hunting for our favourite local food.
In no time, I returned to my table crunchy, full of spice Ayam Goreng berempah, the savoury Chinese carrot cake and sweet salted egg dim sum with hot, milky chai masala.
I personally love the part they are supporting the small businesses with the famous putu mayam on a motorcycle and Permas Jaya’s popular otak-otak and sate stall brought to the bazaar.
These are all just part of the 400 dishes offered and there is so much more for you to discover!
