More than 200 visitors were present at the 12th Private & International School Fair in Johor, which shows that an international school education remains a popular choice among parents in Johor. Held last Saturday and organised by Mint Communications, the Private & International School Fairs have been connecting parents and children with the top international schools in Malaysia since 2012. Over the years, both local and expatriate parents have visited these fairs to learn more about the wide variety of international curricula offered.
The 12th Private & International School Fair in Johor adhered strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by the National Security Council. All visitors, including young children, wore face masks. The organisers and exhibitors wore face masks and face shields. The physical distancing of at least one metre was observed at all times. The majority of the visitors were parents considering an international school education for their children. Some visitors were also looking for extracurricular activities for their children.

With 20 international schools in Johor alone, the fair was the perfect avenue for visitors to find out more about the offerings by various international schools in a convenient location. Besides fee structures, curriculum pathways, teacher credentials and amenities provided, exhibitors also answered queries on pre-university courses and the option of boarding for their children. Many parents also booked visits to see the school in the coming weeks.
Ten institutions exhibited at the fair. The schools based in Johor Bahru included Crescendo-HELP International School, Fairview International School, R.E.A.L Schools Johor Bahru Campus, Repton International School and Tenby Schools Setia Eco Gardens. With the exception of Shattuck-St. Mary’s Forest City International School from Gelang Patah, the other schools are located in Iskandar Puteri. These include Marlborough College Malaysia, Raffles American School and Sunway International School. The majority of these schools also provide boarding facilities to students. Many of them accept students into preschool, primary and secondary school, and pre-university programmes. Besides international schools, Yamaha Music School also exhibited at the fair.
Visitors to the fair also obtained a copy of the latest 2021 edition of the Education Destination Malaysia guidebook. The guidebook is an in-depth and comprehensive guide to international school education in Malaysia. It contains detailed information on schools, useful articles, infographics and insightful advice to help parents decide on an international school for their children.
