edotco Group (edotco) clinches two awards at the Sustainable Business Awards Malaysia 2020/21, one of Asia’s most prestigious corporate sustainability awards programmes. The recognition validates the Group’s commitment to best ESG practices that are aligned to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

As the first telecommunications company in Malaysia to become a signatory member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the company embedded the 10 Principles on Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption into its strategies, policies, procedure and culture.

Workforce Category – Winner
edotco’s winning strengths in the Workforce category highlighted its resilience across three strategic lenses: People, Leadership and Ways of Working in the backdrop of the pandemic that hits the world in 2020. The Group approaches workforce resilience by enhancing the operating model and doubling up on talent investment. Responding to uncertainties brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, edotco quickly adjusted to the new norm while dealing with differing market complexities and sustaining a highly engaged workforce, leveraging on five key pillars;

Energy Management Category – Significant Achievements
edotco continuously champions the deployment of renewable energy solutions to reduce the dependency on diesel on its sites. To date, the Group has deployed ~1800 solar and 12 wind turbine sites, which resulted in 100% carbon emissions reductions compared to grid electricity and diesel. edotco also deployed outdoor sites to reduce the requirement for air conditioning, while eOPTI, an in-house patent-pending solution, was developed to optimised energy designs. All these initiatives path our way towards edotco’s carbon-neutral ambition by 2030, for which innovation and sustainability are integrated into the business strategies. The Group also engages with various stakeholders, including employees, tenants and communities, to improve awareness of energy management.
Organised by Global Initiatives, the Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) winners were comprehensively assessed based on a scoring framework co-developed with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), followed by a National Advisory Panel (NAP) evaluation. The Awards recognises leadership in corporate sustainability across 12 categories, including sustainability strategy, community, energy and water management, supply chain, and ethics. The 2020/21 Malaysia Awards were held with the presence of Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy).
