6 Must Know Facts About the Incoming Public-Private Partnership e-Land System to Johor

After showing its effectiveness in improving the quality and efficiency of land administration in Kuala Lumpur, the e-Land system, which was introduced through a public-private partnership (PPP), will be expanded to other states, including Johor according to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

It is expected to be fully developed and adopted by 2024 at the earliest.

“I was made to understand that the e-Land System concession agreement for the Land and Mines Office of Putrajaya and Labuan will be inked today,” he said when opening the National Land’s Day 2021 celebration theme “Facing Post-Covid-19 Challenges in Land Administration” held virtually on 27th July.

Here are the 6 things to know about the e-Land System:

1. Since its establishment in the early 1980s, Muhyiddin remarked, the land administration service modernisation programme has been fine-tuned and modernised in step with technical development, and the Federal Government agreed in 2014 to execute the e-Land System through a PPP arrangement.
2. The system is a partnership between the federal government, state governments, and private enterprises that aims to standardise land administration in states based on applicable legislation, reduce bureaucracy, and improve transparency and integrity in land administration.
3. The implementation would contribute to the country’s development while increasing revenues for state governments.
4. e-Land System was first implemented as a pioneer project at the Kuala Lumpur Land and Mines Office in 2017
5. The system had succeeded in increasing the quality and efficiency of land administration in Kuala Lumpur during its implementation.
6. e-Land System has received Gold Award for Public Sector at the ASEAN ICT Award 2018 in Indonesia.
