Johor Corporation (JCorp) and Cenergi EE Holdings Sdn Bhd (Cenergi) signed an MOU to form a strategic partnership for advanced facilities management services with zero upfront solar energy capital and energy efficient programmes. This joint venture provides building managers with an affordable, energy efficient approach to building management.
The MOU was signed by Hazman Hilmi Sallahuddin, DASB Managing Director and Hairol Azizi Tajudin, Cenergi Group Chief Executive Officer, to promote and provide DASB-owned or operating buildings and potentially other building owners with sustainable energy efficient building management services. DASB provides both the development and operation of rooftop solar and energy efficiency programmes. Cenergi complements its services.
By putting in rooftop solar panels and advanced electrical equipment, the end-to-end solution offered is aimed at producing energy and saving money. This programme is accomplished through third party organisations, known as the Solar Power Purchase Agreement (SPPA) and the Energy Savings Performance Agreement (ESPA) (ESPA).
SPPA and ESPA systems help owners produce their own renewable energy, reduce their carbon footprint and save electricity costs.
This partnership will first carry out this end-to-end solution to DASB-owned or its selected managed buildings.
“We expect that the electricity bills in these buildings will be reduced by 10-20% after the completion of the retrofitting, depending on the type and level of the retrofitting work,” said Hazman Hilmi Sallahuddin.
DASB and Cenergi plans to deliver this end-to-end solution in the longer term to building owners across the country.
In Malaysia, up to 13% of total energy use, 48% of electricity consumption and 20% of GHGs is accounted for by commercial buildings. Transportation and industry are the third largest producers of GHGs and Malaysia is working towards a goal of reducing carbon emissions by 40% by 2020 and 45% by 2030. To reduce carbon emissions, the government plans to achieve 20% of renewable energy in the energy mix by 2025.
