A total of 14 Johor Affordable Housing (RMMJ) projects involving 3,241 housing units were launched in conjunction with the Johor Property Expo (JPEX) 2025 at Padang Akasia, Angsana Johor Bahru Mall.

Of the total number that were opened for applications, eight projects offered 2,222 units in Johor Bahru, followed by three projects of 501 units in Batu Pahat, two projects with 432 units in Kulai and one project of 86 units in Pontian, which is the first affordable housing in the district.

Officiated by Dato’ Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, Chairman of the Johor State Housing and Local Government Committee, JPEX 2025 also provides up to 15,000 residential units with prices starting as low as RM50,000 to RM300,000, covering various categories in line with the state government’s proactive approach in addressing housing issues.

Media Digital Johor reported Johor is the only state to organise a property expo that offers affordable housing to the people.

This commitment is further strengthened through Johor’s progressive housing policy requiring at least 40% of free market projects to build RMMJ (Johor Affordable House Ownership) at subsidised house prices either by the state government or developers, in addition to offering discounts of up to 15% for Bumiputera lots.

With 17,741 units successfully completed as of the first quarter of 2025 and another 12,259 units currently under construction, the state government is actively implementing its commitment to provide 100,000 RMMJ units throughout the state by 2030.

The second phase, which will run from 2027 to 2030, is expected to see the construction of 70,000 units.

“In addition, a dynamic approach was introduced through the “First Come, First Serve” direct offer for 337 RMMJ units which are the remaining projects previously voted on. This includes 7 units (RM50k), 15 units (RM100k), 39 units (RM150k) and 276 units (RM250k–RM300k). The direct offer also involved 102 KKS (medium cost shops) units from 10 previous projects,” said Jafni.

“JPEX is not just a property expo, but an integrated field of action involving local authorities, developers, financial agencies, and credit counseling. Initiatives like this bring together essential services under one roof, making it easier for people to get their dream home,” he added in the statement.

Also present during the officiation was Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Suhailizan Suliman, Chief Executive of the Johor State Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ).
