Yayasan JCorp has established a recycling hub at B5 Johor Street Market, Johor Bahru, since November 2023. This facility is divided into four categories: plastic, paper, e-waste, and others.
Yayasan JCorp, the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB), and SWM Environment Sdn. Bhd. (SWM Environment) have joined forces on this initiative.
As the system integrator for JCorp and Group’s corporate responsibility and ESG initiatives, Yayasan JCorp actively seeks opportunities to carry out ESG-related activities that benefit the community. This commitment aligns with Yayasan JCorp’s focus on environmental conservation and preservation.
During the launch ceremony of the recycling hub at B5, the Chairman of Yayasan JCorp, Rozaini Mohd Sani, emphasised this dedication.
“The Recycling Hub @B5 is a commendable approach to establishing a more organised and systematic solid waste recycling activity hub that can be beneficially utilised by the local community.”
He stated that the selection of B5 Johor Street Market as the recycling centre location is highly strategic and conducive due to its easy accessibility, especially for the residents. According to a statement released by Yayasan JCorp, the response received so far, particularly from the local community, has been very encouraging.
The launching ceremony of this recycling hub was officiated by the Mayor of Johor Bahru, Dato’ Haji Mohd. Noorazam Bin Dato’ Haji Osman.
The local Authority, represented by the Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB), is committed to strengthening the efforts towards fostering a green, sustainable, and low-carbon city. Their strategic collaboration with partners like Yayasan JCorp and SWM Environment to establish a recycling centre in Johor Bahru City is truly laudable.
This initiative aims to raise awareness within the local community about the significance of urban cleanliness. The Mayor of Johor Bahru expressed optimism that this effort will contribute to a cleaner and more environmentally conscious city.
“I also call upon all parties, including government agencies, corporations, and the public, to continue supporting such programmes, aiming to make Johor Bahru City the cleanest, most vibrant, and beautiful location.”
He mentioned that the drive-through recycling facility will make it easier for the community, especially those around Johor Bahru City, to drop off recyclables which also allows them to accumulate reward points redeemable for cash under the KITARecycle programme.
This initiative aims to meet the recycling needs of KITARecycle users in Johor Bahru and Iskandar Puteri, as well as to encourage local community participation in achieving a 40% national recycling rate by 2025.
