Wiwynn Unveils Milestone Server Plant in Johor Initiates Rack Integration for Hyperscale Data Centres

Wiwynn Corporation, one of the largest ODM-Direct cloud IT infrastructure providers and the leading Taiwanese provider of cloud IT infrastructure for hyperscale data centres, has officially opened its Phase I server rack integration plant in Senai Airport City, Johor, Malaysia. This move further realises Wiwynn’s vision of creating a premier one-stop-shop manufacturing, service, and engineering centre for the APAC region with a dedication to sustainable operation.  

Wiwynn’s new Malaysian facility not only satisfies the expanding demand for cloud services in Southeast Asia, but it also showcases the effectiveness of the business’s global manufacturing strategy. The company seeks to establish not only manufacturing and service operations but also strong local engineering capabilities through close engagement with top universities in Malaysia. This will make it possible for the business to supply hyperscale data centres with cutting-edge AI servers and cooling technologies. 

The company is solidifying its capabilities from PCBA and system assembly to server rack integration, realising its vision of establishing a premier one-stop-shop manufacturing, service, and engineering centre for the APAC region with the recently inaugurated Phase I plant, built for server rack integration, and Phase II, the Server PCBA Plant, set to go live by 2024.

“We’re excited to announce this Phase I achievement and deeply grateful for the tremendous  support from local authorities and partners, enabling us to reach the milestone despite the  challenges posed by the COVID period,” said Emily Hong, Chair and Chief Strategy Officer of  Wiwynn. 

“The resilience, technological, and business potential demonstrated in the period has given us the confidence to build Wiwynn Malaysia as a leading hub for the APAC region and to address the growing demand for cloud service and data centre business.” 

Wiwynn also embraces ESG principles in its operations, aligning with its commitment to sustainability. The facility adheres to the highest gold standard of Green Building Index (GBI) technology, adopts renewable energy, and implements smart manufacturing technologies. The company is also working with local partners to plant twenty-two thousand trees in Senai Airport Industrial Park and other regions of Malaysia throughout 2023. 

In addition, the company also sponsors the 24 Festive Drums, a cultural treasure deeply rooted in Johor Bahru’s history, to foster the preservation and continuation of local culture. 

Datuk Onn Hafiz, Menteri Besar of Johor, also added, “Wiwynn’s forward-looking strategy and investment will ripple positive socio-economic impacts in Johor and bring new opportunities for both economic and sustainable growth. The state government will continue to extend a dedicated level of assistance in supporting the growth of Wiwynn in this region.” 

Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), remarked, “Thank you to Wiwynn for your confidence in Malaysia and congratulations on the launch of its Phase I server rack integration plant.
