UDA Holdings Berhad (UDA), a leader in real estate development and asset management, including investment and property management, hospitality, and facility management, announces the ‘Road to Golden Years – 50 Years & Beyond’ celebration next year, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of its business branch in the state of Johor through its subsidiaries, UDA Land (South) Sdn Bhd and UDA Angsana Sdn Bhd.

The UDA’s efforts and commitment to real estate development in Johor, particularly in Johor Bahru, have aided the city’s progress by implementing a wide range of real estate projects, including residential, commercial, office towers, and shopping malls.

UDA’s major projects include mixed development in Bandar Baru UDA, Pusat Bandar Tampoi, and Bandar Utama Utama, as well as commercial development in Skudai Kanan.

Datuk Sr. Mohd. Salem Kailany, President/Chief Executive Officer of UDA, said, “Towards the 50th anniversary of UDA’s business in the state of Johor, UDA will continue to empower sustainability through the development of properties that are suitable for all generations, including the unmarried, married, extended families, and investors. This effort is in line with the UDA’s role in encouraging property ownership in urban areas to create a prosperous life for the local community.

“Now, UDA is offering various properties such as two-story terrace houses (Areca Terrace), semi-detached houses, and two-story bungalows (UDA Heights), as well as two and three-story office shops (21BizHub) in Bandar Utama Utama, Johor Bahru, in addition to single-story terrace houses in Taman Sedili, Kota Tinggi.

“In conjunction with the Golden Jubilee celebrations in Johor, UDA is draughting various new developments, including a proposal for a 34-story serviced apartment block in Tampoi Town Centre and two 35-story serviced apartment blocks in Skudai Kanan. In addition, UDA is planning the continuation of the development of a sustainable city in Bandar Utama Utama, which includes two-story townhouses, two-story terrace houses, two- and three-story office shops, and apartments, including medium-cost apartments, by combining modern, elegant, and sustainable elements. The city built with eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient systems will also integrate urban amenities with tranquility, innovative design, lush green spaces, and sophisticated architecture for a cheerful and prosperous lifestyle,” he said.

On 17th July 1975, UDA established a branch in Johor under the name Syarikat Bandar Baru Tampoi Sdn Bhd, before changing its name to SBBU Sdn Bhd on 21st December 1991.

It was renamed UDA Land (South) Sdn. Bhd. on 8 October, 2003, and has remained so ever since. In March 2001, the company Jambangan Mewah Sdn Bhd was established to replace the Property Management Division under SBBU Sdn Bhd which manages AJBM (formerly Plaza Angsana) and in October 2003, it was renamed UDA Angsana Sdn Bhd until now.

As one of the agencies under the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Cooperative Development (KUSKOP), UDA also promotes entrepreneurial activities by helping entrepreneurs expand market access.

In Johor, UDA Angsana Sdn Bhd provides business space and special incentives to entrepreneurs at the Angsana Johor Bahru Mall (AJBM) shopping complex, which has 400 thousand square feet of business space. The five-story shopping mall, which has been open since 1997, receives over 15 million visitors per year.

He added, “In addition to the spacious business space, AJBM now also offers the Laman Astana event hall which is equipped with the latest facilities and can accommodate up to 1,000 guests. The event space is suitable for weddings, concerts, dinners, graduation ceremonies and exhibitions in addition to providing four badminton courts for recreation and a large open area that can accommodate up to 10 tents. Besides that, various interesting activities and promotions will be planned in conjunction with the celebration of ‘Road to Golden Years – 50 Years & Beyond’ to appreciate the continuous support of AJBM customers,” he said.

AJBM also unveiled two new UDA-developed brands, Kirana and Mari Mart. Kirana sells handicrafts from 13 states, features local heritage and expertise, and provides a platform for handicraft entrepreneurs to broaden their marketreach.

Mari Mart, with the tagline ‘Dari Kita Untuk Semua’, is a one-stop retail centre that serves as a platform for bringing together various food and beverage products in accordance with the UDA’s desire to support efforts to strengthen the product market of local small and medium enterprise entrepreneurs.

In order to drive efforts to promote property ownership and intensify entrepreneurial activities, UDA brings the UDA Carnival 2024 which is entering its third year of organisation.

The carnival, which received an encouraging response with the presence of 70,000 visitors in Penang last July, will continue its tour to Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras, in September 2024, followed by Johor Bahru in October 2024, and close the tour curtain in Kuching, Sarawak, at the end of October 2024.
