Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture of Malaysia, and H.E. Yu Inchon, Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of the Republic of Korea, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Co-operation in the Field of Tourism, marking a significant development for both countries’ tourism sectors.
The signing ceremony took place during the ASEAN Tourism Forum that was held from 15th to 20th January 2025, in Johor Bahru.
In a press statement from MOTAC, this MoU is said to be a key milestone in the ongoing efforts to foster closer collaboration between Malaysia and Republic of Korea in the tourism sector.
It outlines a shared commitment to enhancing mutual understanding, exchange, and cooperation in various aspects of tourism.
Among the key areas of focus; the MoU emphasises tourism promotion and marketing, capacity building, tourism information and best practices sharing, boost business tourism (MICE), and develop community-based tourism and ecotourism.
With the signing of this MoU, Malaysia and Republic of Korea have reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening bilateral relations through tourism.
This partnership is expected to bring lasting benefits to both nations, enhancing cultural exchanges, fostering higher tourism arrivals and receipts, and generating economic opportunities.
