Iftar at The Topp

In conjunction with the fasting season, Toppen Shopping Centre hosted a fast breaking programme with some of the 40 underprivileged children from Rumah Perlindungan Fitrah Qaseh and Pusat Jagaan Kasih Setanggi.

Nicole Tong, Marketing Manager of Toppen Shopping Centre said “In the practice of a socially responsible member of our community, our Toppen team created this Iftar at The Topp initiative to contribute back to the community and to reconnect with everyone since the last 2 years have been difficult with the Covid-19 Pandemic. Besides, this event also acts as a service of giving back to the children by spreading love through food during this auspicious month of Ramadan.”

Both homes, Fitrah Qaseh and Kasih Setanggi are Non-Governmental Organisations that take in underprivileged children under their care and provide them with a safe haven. Taking care of children between 4 to 6 years old, Kasih Setanggi currently has a total of 30 children within its care. Fitrah Qaseh was established in 2015, and they are now hosting over 90 children ranging from newborns up to teens aged 18. Some of them were homeless, some from orphanages while the rest originate from families suffering from poverty.

The three-hour-long programme took place at Level 3, Event Piazza, Toppen and commenced at 5 pm. Toppen also welcomed their special guests from Fitrah Qaseh and Kasih Setanggi. Spreading the festive vibes of Ramadan, the event proceeded with a Batik Painting Workshop for the children.

With a picnic-style set-up, the Iftar session began. Toppen team, members of the media and local influencers joined in for ‘Buka Puasa’ with the children at The Topp where everyone was provided with a sitting mat. Introduced with an array of interesting activities, the guests were entertained with stage performances that instilled a Raya festive ambience. Topping off the spirit of Ramadan, goodie bags were given out to the children as a surprise from Toppen.

Toppen Shopping Centre was reportedly pleased to be able to host the children of Fitrah Qaseh and Kasih Setanggi, in hopes of making a memorable Iftar experience for them, spreading their love and appreciation as an aspiration to organise more of these events in the near future.
