It is always a privilege to attend Pulai Springs Resort’s 28 Days Buffet Ala Bazaar, every fasting month, and this would be its fourth year!
Stalls after stalls would be erected at the Gleneagles Terrace Restaurant at the Pulai Pavillion. It mimics your favourite fasting month’s bazaar under one roof with the added comfort of guaranteed seats for you to eat.
Charlotte Monterio, Pulai Springs Resort’s Marketing Communications Manager, greeted me with profound excitement that this year is the longest buffet bazaar they ever held! She reminded me several times that the stalls extended up to the swimming pool area at the club house.
Elated, I got myself Pulai Spring’s must have Coconut Shake drink that emulated exactly the ones I had in its arguably place of origin, Batu Berendam, Melaka to break my fast first. My appetiser is also Melakan-inspired; with perfectly baked and properly fried Mantao buns dipped in the piping hot Stingray Asam Pedas, cooked by request.
I know Nasi Arab ala Pulai already has their share of meat cooked together; however, I believe that the point of having so many food options, like the bazaar, is for us to be adventurous and make our own fusion. Hence, my bowl of Lamb Shank Red Stew, making my plate of dishes a personalised, guilty pleasure.
Meanwhile, my companion hurriedly grabbed enough Durian Fritters for us. They are so popular, that you have to grab it while it’s hot and savour it later. Patience is definitely a virtue here!
I then saw children having the time of their life at the Celop Tepong and Lokching stalls, picking up 50 cents sized Nasi Lemak with their favourite fritters of prawns and squids, a couple of sausages and fishball skewers to make their own, favourite meal. Some of them were having fun picking up Popcorn, Cone Ice-Cream then scrambling to the green lawn just right beside the balcony, to watch a family movie under the starry night sky – an activity that Pulai Springs held throughout the year.
The lush greenery surrounding the venue is so refreshing, and so far away from hustle and bustle of the city; all you can hear is people enjoying their food while the sounds of food preparation whims away. It was such a perfect setting to have a cup of Teh Tarik while my other companions at the table were having glasses of Chrysanthemum tea from the Air Balang stall, giving it double thumbs up on how refreshing it is for them.
To end the session, there are desserts in the clubhouse like Fruits, Kuih-muih, Western Pastries and even sweet porridges like Bubur Pulut Hitam. We only remembered to step indoors for some desserts much later, and I had a few Puddings in glasses while the others are opted for the fruit platters.
You too, could enjoy all of these at Pulai Springs Resort’s longest buffet ever held with the price of RM138nett per adult and RM69nett per child aged 4 to 12 years old. Ten paying adults will earn you one adult to dine free!
