On 27th November 2021, Ihsan Johor, a recipient of the Iskandar Malaysia Social Hero Awards (IMSHA), and the National Anti Drug Association (NADA) collaborated to hold a community awareness programme at Taman Desa Harmoni, Johor Bahru with the goal of carrying out their respective functions and roles in addressing drug, substance abuse, and social tourism issues.

Family-friendly activities that were held on the one-day event included the NADA exhibition, colouring competition, puzzle matches, quiz, lucky draw, foodbank donation handover and a cooking competition.

Running from 8 am to 1 pm, the event was attended by Chief of Plentong administrative, Mohd Nurulfaiz Aman, and with COVID-19 SOPs in place, has seen the participation of around 73 people including children throughout the day.

According to Farrah Faridah Baptist, CEO of Ihsan Johor in a statement, through this event, NGOs could provide knowledge to the community on anti-drug information and as well as the dangers of drugs to self and society.

“Among the objectives of this event is to form highly skilled and confident community members in helping the government eradicate drugs in their respective communities.”

“By forming highly aware and self-assured individuals of the community, they would then assist the government in eradicating narcotics in their local communities.

“Members of the community may encourage a drug-free lifestyle, resulting in a safe and thriving drug-free society,” she said.
