Johor Military Forces to Participate in National Day Celebration for the First Time

The Johor Military Forces (JMF) will take part in this year’s National Day celebration in Putrajaya for the first time as reported by NST online.  

Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said the participation of the Johor force was among the features of this year’s celebration, which will be held at Dataran Putrajaya on 31st August 2026. 

“One of the things that I feel may be a little different this year is that we will also have the JMF, the Johor Military Forces. 

“They will take part together with their assets and a contingent of 100 personnel. This is one of the unique features this year,” he said. 

He was speaking at the handover ceremony for sponsorship contributions from strategic partners to Human Graphics participants in conjunction with the 2026 National Day celebrations in Putrajaya on 24th August 2026. 

This year’s human graphics performance at Dataran Putrajaya will feature 1,500 students from 36 schools in Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur, and Selangor, according to Fahmi. 

“The 1,500 students have shown tremendous enthusiasm, and this is their first visit to the location. 

“We will consider several factors, including their comfort and readiness, to ensure they are fully prepared for the performance,” he stated. 

Another new feature this year, according to Fahmi, is the placement of military and security assets in designated areas, allowing members of the public to get a close look. 

He stated that the assets would be displayed at Dataran Floria, the monument, and Dataran Aman throughout the celebration. 

“In previous years, visitors would usually have to wait by the roadside to see, touch or board the assets. 

“But this year, we have placed them at specific locations so visitors can come and see for themselves, at close range, the assets belonging to the military, police and others,” he said. 

Fahmi said the celebration would also feature more floats and contingents compared to previous years. 

He said preparations for the celebration were currently more than 70% complete, with several major structures, including the Royal Box, still being prepared. 

“We expect preparations to reach between 80 to 90% within the next few days,” adding that the government would also finalise health-related standard operating procedures for the celebration amid haze concerns. 

“During the National Day celebration main committee meeting last week, I instructed the committee to obtain the health-related SOPs, which we will announce in the near future,” he said.
