AIESEC in Johor Bahru is pleased to announce SDG Bootcamp, an extraordinary event for secondary school students from 13 to 18 years old where Harry Potter meets sustainability. The event, taking place on 18th and 19th August 2023, offers delegates a two-day, one-night programme dedicated to immersing them in a transformative journey towards a greener future. Esteemed venue, Library Sultan Ismail and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor Bahru will host the event.
AIESEC is a global youth-led organisation committed to developing leadership qualities and cross-cultural understanding among young people. AIESEC in Johor Bahru, a local chapter, believes in “Activating purposeful youth leadership in Johor Bahru by facilitating challenging experiences through innovative and sustainable action”. With a specific focus on sustainability, the chapter takes pride in organizsng SDG Bootcamp — an event that merges the enchantment of Harry Potter with the importance of sustainable living.
During SDG Bootcamp, delegates will have the opportunity to partake in a range of enriching activities and workshops designed to foster sustainable living practices. Through three exciting projects, delegates can unleash their creativity and contribute to a more eco-friendly world.
Environmental Warriors: Kokedama Planting
Kokedama Planting workshop will teach them how to create captivating hanging moss balls adorned with vibrant plants.
Food Advocators: Home Composting
In the Home Composting session, delegates will gain valuable knowledge on transforming kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich compost, promoting a circular economy and waste reduction.
Environmental Cycle: Mini Greenhouse Craft
Delegates will have the chance to construct their own Little Greenhouse using recycled materials, emphasising the importance of upcycling and resource conservation.
The event also provides a unique platform for delegates to engage with sustainability experts through workshops, discussions, and informative sessions. Together, delegates and experts will explore Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 12 and 13, which focus on responsible consumption and production, as well as climate action. By leveraging the knowledge and insights shared by these experts, delegates will gain valuable perspectives on addressing global challenges and making a meaningful impact in their communities.
