Be a part of Sunway’s effort in eliminating hunger

Sunway Group has stepped up with a solution to make rice, the staple of every Malaysians’ meal available for the underprivileged by installing rice auto teller machine (ATM) where beneficiaries could withdraw 4kg of rice every two weeks on Saturdays with Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) card.

The first Rice ATM was launched on 2nd June 2019 with the second Rice ATM following suit about a month later on the 4th of July 2019 at Masjid Nurul Muttaqin, Kg Ulu Pulai. This time Sunway Group has partnered with the Malaysian Red Crescent Society.

Present during the event were Tunku Temenggong Johor Y.A.M. Tunku Idris Iskandar Alhaj ibni Sultan Ibrahim, who is also the Chairman of the National Committee for Community Services Malaysian Red Crescent; Sunway Iskandar Senior General Manager, Tan Wooi Teong and Sunway Iskandar Assistant General Manager, Ng Chai Teck.

“The spirit of giving back to our society in a sustainable manner is rooted in Sunway’s corporate culture. We have previously launched the first Rice ATM at Masjid India and donated 800kg of rice to kick start the distribution. We are very proud to be able to deliver the second Rice ATM with an additional 800kg of rice to Masjid Nurul Muttaqin, Kg Ulu Pulai,” said Deputy Managing Director, Iskandar and International, Property Development Division, Sunway Berhad, Tan Wee Bee.

Each of the Rice ATM has a total of 200kg rice and donation compartment is available for collecting and receiving cash donations from the public which then will be used to purchase more rice to add into the ATM.

The ATM is a part of the #sunwayforgood Raya Cheer 2019 programme catering mostly to the homeless individuals and B40 groups spread across Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Penang and Johor, where Sunway Group has built, served, and remains as part of the communities and is aiming to reach 11,520 Malaysians.
