Sunway Group continues to do their part for the community with its reach spanning from north to south. Through their “Raya Cheer” initiative, the Group distributed 2,000 containers of bubur lambuk and 300 sets of groceries to B40 families through the #SunwayforGood Raya Cheer initiative in Johor Bahru.

At an event here at Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, attended by Tuan Haji Pandak Ahmad, State Assemblyman of Kota Iskandar, and Dato’ Haji Mohd Haffiz Haji Ahmad, Mayor of Iskandar Puteri, and Gerard Soosay, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Iskandar Sdn Bhd, together with other township business units, distributed groceries to the Orang Asli community through SK Ladang Pendas, communities living by the Pendas River, as well as other groups across the district of Johor Bahru.

As part of this initiative just last week, both the Johor Bahru (North) district Police Headquarters and Skudai Fire Department had come together in support of this campaign, in order that the communities most needing of assistance were reached.

Gerard Soosay said “It is important to us that communities needing a helping hand not be missed out, and that is why the groups we give back to are so carefully chosen. In fact, this is also the reason why SK Ladang Pendas has been identified as a school we wish to journey with and support in matters beyond food and provisions.”

Having partnered with the Malaysia Red Crescent over the years has truly been a rewarding experience. Other organisations that joined in the Raya Cheer were Iskandar Investment Berhad, Yayasan Zarith Sofiah and Kelab Alami.

Sunway’s flagship #SunwayforGood initiative pledges to promote sustainability and social responsibility efforts through three key pillars education, healthcare and community enrichment.

#SunwayforGood has helped beneficiaries throughout Malaysia, with an aim to positively impact millions of lives across the country as Sunway celebrates its 50-year milestone in 2024 underscored by its core values and purpose-driven commitment.

In alignment with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals’  core principle to “leave no one behind,” Sunway is partnering with the Malaysian AIDS Foundation (MAF) this year to further reach hundreds of B40 families impacted by HIV/AIDS with basic household items and groceries through the #SunwayforGood Raya Festive Cheer initiative in Malaysia.
