His Majesty, the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, emphasised today on his official Facebook page that civil officials, especially teachers should not underestimate the necessity of getting vaccinated in order to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.
“Teachers should be setting an example to their students and protecting them, instead of placing students in danger, what more with schools expected to reopen soon. As I had said before, do not be easily swayed by anti-vaxxers. Trust our certified medical professionals. Those rejecting vaccination without any valid reason are just opening themselves to the risk of being infected,” said His Majesty to the Royal Press Office (RPO) today (23rd Aug).
“I hope all Johoreans will be vaccinated as soon as possible so we can return to our jobs, businesses and normal lives,” he added.
His Majesty was commenting on this based on reports that 779 teachers in Johor had rejected their COVID-19 vaccinations.
Johor State Executive Committee Chairman for Education, Information, Culture and Heritage, Mazlan Bujang said on Sunday, the 22nd of August, that the Johor State Education Department will provide more briefing to the teachers for better understanding on the benefits of the COVID-19 vaccination especially when the school session is expected to recommence in October.
The Crown Prince of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has also tweeted of wanting to meet the Johor Education director and the teachers concerned as soon as possible. He was quoted saying, “Our priority is to overcome the pandemic so that the people and the state can return to life as normal.”
