
Following his signing with club owner Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sultan Ibrahim in Johor Bahru on 21st March 2025, Spanish football legend Luis Garcia was formally appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) Football Club.
“JDT have appointed UEFA Champions League winner and former Spanish international Luis Garcia as CEO effective 1st April 2025 following a structuring to strengthen and maximise the expertise of the club management,” the organisation stated.
On and off the field, the 47-year-old former Barcelona, Liverpool, and Atletico Madrid player will provide JDT a plethora of knowledge and experience.
He has been an ambassador for FIFA, UEFA, and La Liga, and is a UEFA Pro Licence and UEFA Executive Master for International Players.
Alongside fellow legends Steve McManaman, John Arne Riise, and Patrik Berger, the Spaniard represented Liverpool in the Battle of the Reds in Kuala Lumpur last year.
A significant structural change was also announced by JDT, as Alistair Edwards would now serve as both the Technical Director and the Chief Operating Officer.
