Southern University College proudly served as a strategic partner for the “STEM Synergy & Mini Theatre Showcase” organised by the National STEM Association (NSA) in collaboration with Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Johor (PPAJ) on 4th and 5th November 2025 at Dato’ Seri Joseph Chong Hall, Southern University College.
With an emphasis on encouraging creativity, innovation, and useful STEM skills, especially among students from B40 community, the two-day event brought together secondary school students, educators, and STEM enthusiasts.
The programme was graced by Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr Noraini binti Idris, President and Founder of National STEM Association (NSA), and Aznan bin Tamin who attended as Guests of Honour. Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr Chuah Joon Huang, President of Southern University College attended both Opening and Closing Ceremonies for engaging with participants and providing guidance to students on their innovative projects.
The program included a variety of activities, such as Mini Theatre STEM Performances, which are creative dramatisations that present STEM concepts in an engaging and interactive way; Innovation Product Exhibitions, which showcase exceptional projects created by students and highlight their entrepreneurial potential and problem-solving abilities; Networking Opportunities, which facilitate connections between students, STEM educators, scientists, and industry innovators; and STEM Career Insights, which present future skills, career paths, and opportunities in STEM fields.
The Faculty of Engineering & Information Technology (FEIT) of Southern University College also actively participated with a dedicated booth with highlighted projects by its students, further reinforcing commitment to nurturing innovation and STEM excellence on campus.
Prof. Chuah expressed his appreciation for NSA’s efforts in fostering a culture of scientific curiosity and innovation “Events like these are essential to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders, equipping them with the knowledge, creativity, and confidence to bring their ideas to life.”
The STEM Synergy & Mini Theatre Showcase exemplifies Southern University College’s role as a supportive strategic partner, providing resources and facilities to enhance student engagement, community collaboration, and the development of future-ready STEM talent.
