CIMB Foundation organised a meaningful community service project on 15th March 2025 to bring joy to 200 underprivileged students celebrating Hari Raya in Johor Bahru with the support of the Social Hero Foundation (SHF).
70 CIMB Bank staff members in Johor Bahru accompanied 200 underprivileged primary and secondary school students from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak-Anak Johor’s Rumah Barkat and SK Puteri Wangsa to shop for Hari Raya clothes and necessities at Mydin Mall Mutiara Rini in Johor Bahru.
Each student was given a budget of RM300 each to spend under the guidance of CIMB Bank staff members who accompanied them shopping at Mydin Mall. The students were also given “Duit Raya” by CIMB Foundation for the Hari Raya celebrations.
This Hari Raya shopping programme saw both happy faces and joy from the children enjoying their morning shopping for Hari Raya clothes as well as those from the CIMB Foundation and CIMB Bank staff members who were there helping and spending time with them.
CIMB Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CIMB Group, spent more than RM60,000 on this meaningful community service initiative.
SHF Trustee Datuk Seri Teo Shiok Fu JP, and SHF Director of Programmes, Farrah Baptist, was present together with CIMB Bank Regional Director 4 (East Johor, Kelantan & Terengganu) in Johor Bahru Farid Adam and CIMB Foundation’s Eugene Cheang from Kuala Lumpur at the event.
SHF Trustee Datuk Seri Teo expressed his gratitude to CIMB Foundation for organising this meaningful initiative in Johor Bahru, and the CIMB Bank Johor Bahru staff members for spending their Saturday morning with the students. The joy he saw on the faces and smiles of the children was heartwarming. The children were also guided on how to shop within their budget by the caring CIMB Foundation and CIMB Bank’s “uncles and aunties”.
SHF is a non-profit foundation established in 2019 under the Trustee (Incorporation) Act 1952 which is under the purview of the Prime Minister’s Department, Malaysia. SHF’s main objectives are to render effective help to the needy and underprivileged communities in Johor, promote national unity among all the races and promote awareness for the environment and sustainability.
