Johor Sports Council (MSNJ) is bringing back Sirkit Remaja Johor 2022 was inaugurated back in 2018 in search of new talent for five main sports, Archery, Silat, Canoe, Petanque and a new addition for 2022’s, Wushu.
Participation in this tournament is open to talent development athletes, especially the GOLD Johor programme, and athletes in all districts in Johor, either under MSSD or clubs in the District aged 16 years and below (born in 2006 and above) and they must represent their respective districts while contesting.
Haji ‘On Jabbar @ Jaafar, Johor Deputy State Secretary (Sports, Youth and Volunteers) during a press conference said that the programme will be carried out in stages of 3 series with the first series in phase one commencing in Muar, from the 25th to the 26th of March for archery and canoeing, followed by the second phase in Bandar Penawar from the 27th to the 28th of May for silat, wushu and petanque. The second series would be held in Batu Pahat from the 1st to the 2nd of July for all games, and the final series to take place in Johor Bahru from the 12th to the 13th of August also for all five games.
Tuan Nor Syazlan Abd Razak, Director of MSNJ said that an athlete could compete in all three series in a row if they met the age requirements and represented their district.
The sports council estimates 2400 athletes to compete in the 2022 edition and selected athletes during this event will be accepted into the SUKMA Titanium or Platinum Training Programme.
“The sports council may improve its function and direction in the search of athletes in each district, which will not be hampered because it has a solid foundation for execution in finding fresh talent,” Haji ‘On Jabbar added, concluding the press conference.
