Speech by Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi

“I look forward to continuing and expanding on these initiatives to ensure Johor be an education hub with substance and heft. We see this as an investment in a more prosperous and competitive Johor state of the future. The education sector will continue to be nurtured, as it provides a foundation for generating world-class human capital, which is critical for our push for an inclusive and vibrant economic model premised upon the adoption of advanced technology. I am also pleased to note the role that the various government-linked corporations such as IIB and EduCity Iskandar have played in bringing about collaborations like this despite the disruptions caused by the pandemic over the past two years. This is proof not only of Johor’s continued attractiveness and resilience, including the Iskandar Malaysia region but also the hard work of our GLCs and government agencies,” said Datuk Onn Hafiz during the event.

“We are honoured to be chosen by the Ministry of Education, the Republic of Maldives to further explore several opportunities to enhance their education offerings to their domestic market. This collaboration will also see an exchange of knowledge and talent development for both their educators and the student market segment. We are also confident to support the enhancement of their educational ecosystem by working together to collaborate on talent development. We hope that this relationship will benefit both the Republic of Maldives and EduCity Iskandar and the state of Johor,” said Wan Ahmad Saifuddin in his speech.

Both parties will explore projects aimed at developing a comprehensive talent development programme to improve the quality of the Republic of Maldives educators, support the enhancement of their educational ecosystem, and develop high-quality, prestigious educational programmes as a result of this announcement.
