The Johor state government, through the State Sports Council (MSNJ), has set aside RM6.4 million per year for the upkeep of SUKMA Games facilities and venues in the state.
This was done, according to MSNJ Director Nor Syazlan Abd Razak (picture), to avoid ruin to the facilities and venues that were not used due to the enforcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“We always ensure maintenance of stadiums, venues and sports facilities so they remain in good condition and can still be used when SUKMA is held later,” he told reporters after a dialogue on the Johor Sports Master Plan 2030 here.
Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, chairman of the State Tourism, Youth and Sports Committee, was also present.
Meanwhile, Onn stated that the Johor State Economic Planning Division (BPENJ) was in the process of submitting a proposal paper to the state government for the establishment of a battle centre.
“The Combat Centre will serve as a venue for training and competition for combat sports, and RM4.5 million had been set aside by the state government for the purpose”, he added.
