As of 27th March 2025, the Johor state government began giving Special Financial Assistance for the Fifth Wave of the Northeast Monsoon Floods (MTL) totalling RM11.2 million to 3,749 Heads of Households (KIR) registered at Temporary Shelter Centres (PPS) in six affected districts.

The State Government, the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), the Johor State Islamic Religious Council (MAINJ), Local Authorities (PBT), and the Johor State Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ) collaborated to distribute RM1.7 million to 575 affected KIRs in Kulai.

Dato’ Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, chairman of the Johor State Housing and Local Government Committee, commented on the recent floods and said that the distribution of unusually heavy rainfall was the cause of the disasters that affected Johor Bahru, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, Pontian, Kluang, and Batu Pahat.

The report also said that since the majority of the flood-affected areas are close to the two rivers in question, the special committee to implement flood resolution methods will also examine development along the coast of Sungai Tebrau and Sungai Skudai for more efficient mitigation measures.

In other developments, 16 PBT foundations in Johor are set to channel RM1.13 million in aid to 6,940 KIRs in need, particularly ahead of Hari Raya.

Earlier, Mohd Jafni and Fizwan Dato’ Mohd Rashidi, Kulai District Officer, discussed the procedure of distributing Special Financial Assistance for the Fifth Wave of the MTL Flood Disaster at the Kulai District Office Hall.
