The QR Code-based test in immigration inspection process for bus and motorcycle services at CIQ Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar (KSAB), Gelang Patah, which began on 1st June 2024 was successful.

Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) in a statement said, users have responded positively to the test’s implementation, and according to records, 13,846 users have used the application and 117,000 users have downloaded it overall.

At CIQ Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI), the bus passenger route is undergoing the same testing procedure in the meantime.

In order to guarantee the seamless implementation of the QR Code application, JIM is presently finishing up the simplification of its requirements.

JIM further announces that a Proof of Concept (POC) trial involving the use of QR codes for immigration checks is currently underway, with a three-month trial period.

Only citizens of Malaysia who use the bus, motorcycle, and parking lot services at CIQ KSAB and CIQ BSI are permitted to use QR Codes during this time.

In order to facilitate entry and exit at the Malaysia-Singapore border entrance, the Malaysian Immigration Department is constantly dedicated to making sure that QR Code implementation at CIQ KSAB and CIQ BSI runs smoothly.

As a daily reminder, JIM advised the public to make sure the travel documents are in order and still valid before entering the immigration inspection counter.

Other advice includes to submit visas for countries that require visas, top up the Touch’n Go card and make sure the card’s balance is sufficient before arriving at BSI CIQ and to check eligibility status on the MALAYSIA DIGITAL ARRIVAL CARD (MDAC) portal and fill in the travel details before arriving at BSI CIQ.

“For the comfort and safety of all, the public is advised to follow the guidelines/instructions provided and to give way to people who have special needs,” it said at the end of its daily reminder.
