As part of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, seven private hospitals in Johor will begin operating as COVID-19 vaccination centres (PPV) on 1st June.
According to R. Vidyananthan, chairman of the State Health and Environment Committee, it featured four private hospital vaccination centres (PPVHS) in Johor Bahru district and one PPVHS each in Kluang, Batu Pahat, and Muar districts.
“These PPVHS will administer 250 to 1,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine a week,” he said in a statement.
He stated that the number of vaccination centres in private clinics, also known as general practitioner vaccination centres (PPVGP), has grown by six since 5th May, with five in Johor Baru and one in Batu Pahat.
“With the inclusion of the private clinics, the total number of PPVGPs operating in the state now stands at 43. These private clinics will administer 36 to 90 doses of COVID-19 vaccine every week, depending on the capability of each clinic,” he explained.
According to Vidyananthan, private medical practitioners participating in the ProtectHealth programme are barred from getting names of vaccination recipients through advertising on social media or short messaging applications like as WhatsApp, since this may generate public confusion and misunderstanding.
ProtectHealth Malaysia is a completely owned subsidiary of ProtectHealth Malaysia, which was founded under the Health Ministry. It plans, administers, and maintains projects connected to funding healthcare services as specified by the ministry as a non-profit organisation.
Meanwhile, Vidyananthan stated that the Special Committee on COVID-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) has supplied 26 PPV sites, including six in Johor Baru, three in Kota Tinggi, and two each in Batu Pahat, Kluang, Muar, Pontian, Segamat, Kulai, and Tangkak.
