Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort, Johor Bahru was the recipient of the ‘Leading Innovative Golf Resort – Malaysia’ category for 2025 that was presented at The Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur, hosted by TIN Media in conjunction with MAH Hospitality Week and the Hospitality Suppliers Expo 2026.
The Asian Tourism & Hospitality Awards (ATHA) is supported by the Malaysian Association of Hotels, PATA Malaysia Chapter, SKÅL International Kuala Lumpur and Danang Events and Convention Association Vietnam.
The leading innovative golf resort category recognises destinations that redefine the golf experience through forward-thinking concepts, enhanced guest engagements, and strategic evolution – setting new benchmarks for the industry.
“Over the past few years, Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort has undertaken a comprehensive transformation and enhancement programme carried out in phases, aimed at elevating its facilities, sustainability efforts, operational efficiencies and the overall guest experience. These initiatives reflect the Resort’s continued commitment towards innovation, service excellence and long-term value creation for its members, guests and stakeholders,” said Tan Kai Yang, General Manager.
“This recognition also comes at a timely juncture as Johor Bahru continues to experience significant growth and increasing regional prominence. This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our shareholders, who have been instrumental in shaping our success. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our stakeholders who are our business partners, members, and a dedicated team for their continued trust and commitment throughout this journey.”
Aligned with the aspirations of Visit Johor/Malaysia Year 2026, the accolade reinforces Ponderosa Golf & Country Resort’s ongoing dedication towards excellence in service delivery, innovation and the advancement of sustainable golf tourism growth within the state.
This year’s award drew more than 250 nominees from nine countries across Asia, collected over 100,000 public votes and recognised more than 60 winners during the Award Gala event. The panel of jury consists of distinguished members of Malaysia’s media (BERNAMA), Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Association of The Indonesian Tours & Travel Agencies (ASTINDO) and Vietnam’s DECA (Danang Events, Exhibition, Congress, Convention and Art Spaces).
