The Johor State Housing Development Corporation (Perbadanan Kemajuan Perumahan Negeri Johor) will be the main agency that will manage the Housing and Property in the state of Johor.
The announcement was made by Ayub Jamil, Chairman of the Housing and Local Government of Johor through a statement dated 9th of February 2022.
The Johor State Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ) functions and operates through the Johor State Housing Development Corporation Enactment 1976 which was enforced on the 30th of January 2022 through the state government’s gazette dated 6th January 2022. It is said to be an effort towards providing the best services for the people in the state of Johor.
Acting based on the 1976 Enactment, PKPJ will be responsible for planning, developing, controlling and enforcing all matters related to Housing and Property in the state of Johor.
“It is time for Johor to have an agency or body that is fully responsible for matters related to the Housing Development in the state.”
Since the 30th of January 2022, all tasks and operations previously under the role of SUKJ Johor State Housing Division will now be under PKPJ said the statement.
For the time being, PKPJ operates at the SUKJ Housing Division Office at Dato ‘Abdul Rahman Andak Building, Kota Iskandar, Iskandar Puteri and will be led by General Manager, Suhailizan Binti Suliman, a former senior officer of the Johor state government.
“Taking examples and references from the Housing Development Board (HDB) Singapore, it is hoped that the management, administration, development and ownership of housing in the state of Johor which is the responsibility of PKPJ will move more vigorously and proactively.”
“My hope is that PKPJ can carry out its functions quickly, efficiently and viably in order to facilitate the affairs of all parties involved and ensure that no people are burdened and subsequently can provide conducive and quality housing in line with the aspirations of the state government in providing “Quality and Value Home” for the people,” said Ayub towards the end of his statement.
