From 29th May to 6th June 2025, Cuti Sekolah @ Petrosains returns with a specially curated 90-minute workshop designed to ignite curiosity and power change through a series of exciting and minds-on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM)-based activities.
By blending the creativity of the Arts with STEM, this holistic programme provides an engaging environment where young learners aged 10 and above can explore, invent and create. With activities ranging from making eco-friendly keychains to flying a drone, there is something for every budding inventor.
Highlights of the STEM workshop include:
- Shrinking Polymer Keychain: Turn a flat piece of plastic into a custom keychain and learn how recycling plastic containers can help reduce waste and conserve biodiversity.
- 3D Pen: Participants will learn how to design and create 3D shapes as well as the changes in states of matter when plastic melts and solidifies.
- Maker Kit – Cube Circuit: Learn the basics of electrical circuits in a fun, hands-on way by building simple circuits using modular cubes and LEDs.
- Maker Kit – LED Frame: Explore electricity by creating working circuits with modular components such as copper tape, LEDs, and buzzers. This is a great way to acquire problem-solving skills while making something that lights up or makes sound.
In addition to these hands-on activities, learners will be treated to live science shows, including an exciting Drone Show, where they’ll learn how drones fly and are used in real-world applications such as deliveries and rescue missions. On top of that, a stunning live drone swarm performance will showcase the power of coding, sensors, and teamwork.
At Petrosains Games Corner, kids can explore sustainability concepts through fun, hands-on challenges like Carbonopoly, Power the Grid, and Wildlife Warrior, with different games featured daily to keep the excitement fresh and engaging.
To top it all off, participants will have the chance to try drone coding and piloting in an interactive mini mission and create their very own custom 3D keychains using beginner-friendly 3D modeling software and a 3D printer.
Finally, get ready to meet and greet A.R.I.F, Petrosains’ newly launched mascot – A Resourceful Intelligent Friend. Designed to enhance STEM learning experiences, A.R.I.F is an approachable companion that connects with participants and sparks curiosity about science, technology, and innovation.
