Prior to the Chinese New Year (CNY) celebration on 17th February 2026, Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) will hold CNY bazaar at 105 locations.
In its December 2025 monthly meeting, Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB) through mayor Dato’ Haji Mohd Haffiz bin Haji Ahmad stated that 35 locations for hawker’s category, involving 340 business plots and 70 shopfront permit categories were approved through the Licensing Committee Meetings No. 11 of 2025 and No. 12 of 2025.
“The council sincerely hopes that all organisers and business owners involved can play their respective roles in ensuring that the level of cleanliness and environmental management is always at the best level, in line with the Council’s desire to create a comfortable, safe and orderly festive atmosphere for visitors,” he said in a statement.
The mayor also reminded that permits for the sale of firecrackers and fireworks are only allowed to applicants who have obtained permission from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and who fully comply with the terms and conditions of the permit issued by the relevant authorities.
