The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) through the Malaysian Crafts Development Corporation (Kraftangan Malaysia) held the Opening Ceremony of the Johor Craft Festival 2024 at Padang Akasia, Angsana Johor Bahru Mall. The ceremony was officiated by Dato’ Mohd Yusri bin Mohd Yusoff, Deputy Secretary General (Culture) of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. Also present, the Blessed Datuk `Ainu Sham binti Haji Ramli, Director General of Malaysian Handicrafts and the Entrepreneur Mohd Amran bin Mohd Haris, Director General of the National Department of Culture and Arts.
The Malaysian Craft Product Showcase will feature a collection of craft products that are significant to Johor state. A total of 24 collections of batik designs on display are inspired by the design of state identity floral motifs such as Gambir leaves and Black Pepper from Johor, Lada flowers from Negeri Sembilan and Kesidang flowers from Melaka beautifully processed through ikat celup, applied batik, blocks, and canting techniques.
The guest of honour also spent time greeting entrepreneurs and the craft community involved in the Craft Sale and Craft Fair and visited the Landscape and Garden Architecture Exhibition with the concept of ‘Traditional Garden Inspiration’.
This time, the FKJ 2024 is concurrently organised with the South City Festival (FKS) 2024 by the National Department of Culture and Arts. FKS 2024 also highlights the traditional musical art of Ghazal, Zapin Johor and traditional Johor food. In addition, the Festival also brought visitors to learn more about art, heritage and culture through the Johor National Art House Exhibition which showcases the uniqueness of the celebrations celebrated by the community in the state of Johor.
The Festival will run until the 30th of December 2024 from 10 am until 10 pm.
