Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA) has announced their first ever award, Johor Amaze Me! The Best Budget & Business Hotel Award 2024 under their Johor Chapter.

Announced together by MyBHA National President, Dr Sri Ganesh Michiel, and National Deputy President, cum Johor Chapter Chairman, and Event Organising Chairman, Jarod Chia Lik Ming, from 15th June to 14th July 2024, a panel of judges will visit qualifying hotels to assess them across five categories; authentic theme, modern and stylish, all-Inclusive (Room/F&B/Entertainment), zero-Dust and high cleanliness, and eco-friendly and nature-inspired.

The comprehensive insights gathered during these audits will inform the panel meeting, where the gold and silver winners in each category will be determined.

The judging panel for this year’s awards is composed of esteemed leaders and experts from various fields within the tourism and hospitality industry, including the Faculty of Management, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Tourism Johor, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (Johor) (MOTAC Johor), Tourism Malaysia Southern Region, Royal Malaysia Police’s Johor Community Security Crime Prevention Department (Jabatan Pencegahan Jenayah Keselamatan Komuniti Johor (JPJKK) PDRM), Johor Tourist Guides Association (JTGA) and Johor Interior Designer Association (JIDA).

A professional group of hotel operators with certification as members of MOTAC’s Star Rating Panel, the Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA) is also included in the judging panel.

Winners would get trophies, certificates, and cash prizes.

According to a statement from MyBHA, the award strategically aligns hotel services with Johor’s tourism goals, effectively catering to the anticipated tourist influx in 2026, which helps ensure that tourists can allocate more of their budget towards other industries in Johor, thereby supporting the broader local economy.

The launch of this award is a testament to MyBHA Johor’s dedication to improving the quality of low-cost lodging and the region’s overall tourism offering.

The organisation has also announced the MyBHA Johor Amazing Card, with prizes worth up to RM10,000 for lucky draw winners.

Participants are required to predict the contest winners and cast their votes within the specified time period. Correct guesses will be entered into a draw to win the card.

The holder of this card is entitled to a two-night stay at any MyBHA hotel in Johor; the two nights may be split between two hotels or used consecutively at one hotel.

This initiative aims to further promote the local hospitality industry and engage the community and tourists in exploring Johor’s offerings.
