Maxis, Malaysia’s leading integrated telco, continues to make a positive impact through Maxis eKelas, its flagship community programme that aims to improve the academic performance of students in rural communities. The free after-school digital learning initiative has continued to grow from strength to strength, with more than 120,000 registered users on its platform and growing.

As part of the programme, Maxis recently awarded Anugerah Gemilang eKelas 2024 grants to students from nine states across Malaysia in recognition of their academic growth.

Launched in 2017, the Anugerah Gemilang eKelas grant programme honours students who demonstrate significant progress in their educational journeys. In addition to academic improvements, students are assessed based on participation in eKelas activities and competitions, as well as their teachers’ endorsements on their individual growth and development.

During a ceremony held recently for the 2024 recipients, the grants jointly presented by Puan Fadzliaton binti Zainudin, Deputy Director, Educational Resources and Technology Division, Ministry of Education, and Goh Seow Eng, CEO of Maxis. The ceremony was also attended by representatives from the English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC) and Sports, Co-curricular & Arts Division (BSKK) of the Ministry of Education.

“We are proud to recognise our Maxis eKelas participants for their academic and personal growth. Their hard work and dedication serve as an inspiration us on our mission to empower our students through digital learning. Through eKelas, we look forward to supporting even more students on their educational journeys, enabling them to excel well into the future,” said Mariam Bevi Batcha, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Maxis.
