Majestic Johor Festival 2024 Returns with an Aim to Pull 600,000 Local and International Visitors

The Majestic Johor Festival 2024 (MJF 2024) returns to Puteri Harbour, Iskandar Puteri Johor from 28th August to 1st September 2024 with an exclusive exhibition of Royal classic cars will be one of the highlights of the week-long event.

The initiative to promote Johor by the state government through Tourism Johor with the cooperation and support of various agencies has previously received honour from the Malaysian tourism industry with the ‘Gold Award Attractive State Tourism Event’ in 2022.

Aside from the main attraction of an exclusive exhibition of Royal antique cars, the public can look forward to the Majestic Johor Festival Parade on the 1st of September 2024, which will feature a wide range of cultural performances by Johor’s various ethnic groups, as well as a fireworks show and Merdeka Night on 30th August 2024.

Director of Tourism Johor, Sharil Nizam Abdul Rahim said the department has also held promotions outside Johor such as in Riau, Indonesia and Singapore.

“Visitors may look forward to ‘Gendang Bangsa Johor’ where different ethnicities feature the arts of drumming from their culture during the Majestic Johor Festival Parade,” he said. Joining him at the press conference were Kota Iskandar’s State Assemblyman, Pandak Ahmad and the festival’s organising company, Zaiwani Holdings Sdn Bhd’s Director, Nursarah Zaide.

The event anticipates 600,000 domestic and international visitors this year, who will boost the state of Johor’s tourism while also bolstering the local economy and establishing a future tourism network.

The parade will feature bands from Johor’s schools, Pipe Bag and 5 Royal Malay Soldier Regiment, Barongan performances by the Parit Bugis Jawa Association, Motor Vehicle Association (Tricycles, Hummer Touring Buses), Kompang, Chinese, and Indian Drums, Gendang Bangsa Johor, Lion Dance and Dragon by Long Tian Cultural Society, The Lipatist Johor Bahru group, Performances by Yayasan Warisan Johor, Band by KD Sultan Ismail, Kompang Paklong KDSM Group and Tebrau Strait Classic Bicycle Association.

JOH, the Johor mascot, will also make an appearance during the parade.

Besides the popular and sponsored food and beverage stalls, exhibitions would also be held by all ten Johor district offices to promote local attractions, customs, culture, and food.

Among the sponsors for this festival are Inside Scoop, Anytime Fitness, Decathlon, New Chen Motorcycle, Sevenoaks, Upin Ipin Store, Common Sense, Fipper, The Founders, and Kluang Rail Coffee.

MJF 2024 also cooperates with the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP), with the involvement of district offices throughout the state of Johor, government and private agencies, UEM Sunrise, Tourism Malaysia Southern Region, MOTAC, the Association of NGOs, R&F Cove, and Grab.

Johor Public Transport Corporation (PAJ) has offered a free bus transportation service directly to the festival site in order to guarantee a smooth traffic flow throughout the event. Attendees are strongly encouraged to park their cars in the designated parking lots, which include the mosque’s grounds and the area around Kota Iskandar’s government buildings.

Additionally, the event serves as a first step towards publicity and promotion of Visit Johor Year 2026.
