Sunway City Iskandar Puteri (SCIP), an award-winning, sustainable integrated township, reinforced its commitment to support green mobility and EV adoption by launching the ‘Sembang EV’ programme (Chit-Chat about EVs) towards a greener township. The programme was organised by Project Happy EV Riders as part of their green mobility project funded by Majlis Bandaraya Iskandar Puteri through the Low Carbon Community Grant 3.0-GKIPRK 3.0, together with Malaysia’s leading 2WEV brand Blueshark, and the venue host, Sunway City Iskandar Puteri.

Held at Sunway Big Box Retail Park, the event was attended by the Chief Executive Officer of Sunway City Iskandar Puteri, Gerard Soosay. Joining the Sembang EV launch were the Lead of Happy EV Riders, Ong Hwa Chong, the township auxiliary police and surrounding communities.

The event highlight saw the flagging off of the Auxiliary Police riders on their new Blueshark R1 EV motorcycles to patrol the township to the delight of the invited guests witnessing the event.

Blueshark R1, is the world’s most advanced smart electric scooter – four units were presented to SCIP’s Auxiliary Police drawing a successful conclusion of a proof-of-concept (POC) by Blueshark Malaysia and establishing the township as the 1st community in Malaysia to use EVs for its security force. This initiative marks another significant sustainability milestone as Sunway City Iskandar Puteri celebrates its 10th Anniversary.

The Blueshark R1’s green credentials and very low noise output makes it well-suited to the task of neighbourhood patrols at all hours. It also offers numerous features and tech previously unheard of on a motorcycle, such as an ADAS system, over 70 sensors, an Internet of Vehicles (IoV) enabled Smart ArkRide OS with HD display, front and rear cameras, GPS/4G and Bluetooth integration, built-in speakers, and more.

With an estimated 90% lower annual CO2e output over conventional 150cc engines, the Blueshark R1 is an effective solution for emission-free mobility – boosting SCIP and Iskandar Puteri’s goal towards a net-carbon zero future.
