The Johor State Government under the leadership of Dato’ Onn Hafiz Bin Ghazi, Menteri Besar of Johor in collaboration with the Johor Department of Education has published a Johor Student Character Module book (KrMJ) for 1,193 schools in the state of Johor as a guide implementation of the KrMJ Programme in all schools. This module is the state’s initiative to empower 588,762 students’ character to have a prominent identity, a character praised, flattered, known and held in high esteem.
This module focuses on the 10 Characters of Johor Students which are Patriotic, Self-Skills, Manners and Spirituality, Healthy Lifestyle, Leadership, Language Skills, Technology, National Identity, Cultural Arts and Volunteering.
This KrMJ module can be applied and implemented in all programmes and activities in or out of school for example during official school assembly, student sports programme, programme of the month, leadership camp and Student Integration Plan For Unity programme and so on.
In line with the government’s wishes and in ensuring the effectiveness of the KrMJ module, an activity evaluation is provided to measure the impact of each activity carried out. The KrMJ programme that has been worked on through the collaboration of various parties is expected to produce excellent human capital to realise Maju Johor’s hope by 2030.
The Johor State Government in collaboration with the Department Johor State Education has also held a Leaders Conference Johor International Students (JISLC) 2024 which is a platform of an international level to strengthen the role of teenagers who wants to create an influence and make a difference in the world globalisation. In the current digital world, teenagers are encouraged to unite as one entity and unite their abilities to recognise current issues and conflicts in the internet world.
JISLC 2024, a comprehensive and high impact event was held by the Johor Student Leader Council (JSLC) for those who believe in creating change for a better future in addition to requiring them to be involved in the sharing circle to expand knowledge with various social aspects, economic, political, or environmental. It was a platform to unite young people as an entity and allow them to speak up in facing issues in today’s world. This would also encourage them to continue to share and work and have their views heard.
The “Digital Universe: Exploring the Cyber Cosmos” was the theme of JISLC 2024. Exploring the cyber cosmos while developing ethical skills in media and digital platforms will provide encouragement to future generations to wake up as students of the 21st century. Youth is given knowledge of the greatest things in today’s world, which is the digital era. Cohort 12 JSLC hopes to achieve incredible concepts to share with thousands world leader Based on the motto: To Serve & To Excel, therefore, this conference was completely managed by the Council of Leaders Muda Johor (JSLC) Cohort-12.
In addition to that, the Johor Cross Culture Programme was also launched on this day which is the inspiration of Dato’ Onn Hafiz bin Ghazi, to promote understanding, acceptance and appreciation of cultural diversity in Johor, in line with Johor’s Forward Agenda. Parallel policies and strategies outlined in the Development Plan Sustainable Johor 2030 (PPMJ) and Johor Advance Agenda Core, module at under the Cross Culture Programme to empower nation building.
A Malaysia that is highly capable, progressive, prosperous and harmonious with the aspirations of MADANI Malaysia and the Johor Nation as well introducing life values and social cohesion modules.
In 2024, the Johor State Government in collaboration with the Department National Unity and National Integration and the Johor State Department of Education has identified 56 schools whereby in each area of the Johor State Assembly to be appointed as pilot to the implementation of this programme.
This selection of schools also consists of 4 categories namely National High School, National Chinese-curricular High School, National Tamil-curricular type Secondary School and National School. A total of 25,000 students of various races and backgrounds are expected to be directly involved in the activities that have been built in a fairly comprehensive module.
Of the 56 schools participating in this Cross-Cultural Programme, 10 of the best schools will be announced based on consistent commitment and involvement to encourage students’ participation in activities throughout the year.
