KPJ Bandar Dato’ Onn Specialist Hospital proudly announces the opening of its highly anticipated art exhibition, “Bridging Art and Care.” This event, an initiative by Yayasan Johor Corporation (Yayasan JCorp) in collaboration with local artists, aims to integrate the healing power of art into the healthcare environment, enhancing the hospital experience for patients, visitors, and staff alike.

The exhibition will begin in August 2024 and run for a few months, featuring a rotating selection of artworks and artists. Over 100 remarkable pieces from the Johor Art and Creative Design Association (SERUPA2) will be showcased, with new artworks and artists introduced periodically. The curated pieces explore themes of healing, hope, and the human spirit, creating an inspiring and comforting atmosphere within the hospital.

The displayed works, priced between RM500 and RM5,000, will feature 20 local artists, with the sales proceeds directly channelled to the participating artists.

Additionally, the hospital’s parking area features a mural by local artist Tuan Mulo, depicting the hospital’s history and achievements since its establishment in 2019. This mural is part of the broader effort to empower creative arts within the community.

Fakhrul Zaman Mohd. Sambas, President of SERUPA2, praised the project for bringing together agencies like Yayasan JCorp and KPJ Bandar Dato’ Onn Specialist Hospital.

“This programme collectively materialises the art platform in two ways: through physical exhibitions and by providing us with the opportunity to generate income.”.

Muhamad Amin Othman, Chief Executive Officer of KPJ Bandar Dato’ Onn Specialist Hospital, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative: “We believe that art has the ability to transform spaces and uplift spirits. ‘Bridging Art and Care’ is a testament to our commitment to holistic healthcare, where we address not only the physical but also the emotional and psychological well-being of our patients”.

Zaidatul Zurita Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan JCorp, added, “It is hoped that this will help the local artists by giving them a platform to showcase their work and generate income.”

This project supports Yayasan JCorp’s commitment to promoting art, culture, and heritage, and aligns with the government’s efforts to boost the health tourism industry in Johor. The gallery is expected to serve as a cultural hub, attracting visitors and fostering a deeper appreciation for local art.

“Bridging Art and Care” is open to the public, and all are invited to experience the transformative power of art in a healthcare setting.

Admission is free, and visitors are encouraged to share their experiences on social media using the hashtag #ArtAndCareKPJ.
