K-WAVE SHOWDOWN 2025 brought together K-pop artists and fans for a lively afternoon of dance, music, and camaraderie at The Commune in Kulai, Johor.
The event, which took place from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, was organised by Galaxy Groove, a dedicated group of Eddie, Jane, and Pudding who are all on the same mission to support K-pop culture and develop local dance talent.
In a thrilling dance competition, eleven gifted teams showcased their passion, accuracy, and inventiveness. Following an exciting round of competitions, Diven1c was declared the winner, followed by AE in first place and Blackout in second place.
Final Century and Remad received Consolation Awards for their impressive artistry and stage presence.
The competition was judged by Caiplin and Ah Hui, both representing 1119 Entertainment, who brought their professional insight and experience to the judging panel.
Adding to the excitement, the event also featured a K-pop Random Dance Challenge, which drew energetic participation from the audience and highlighted the region’s growing love for Korean pop culture. Yi Chien was named champion, Ji Nen as the first runner-up, Rachel as the second runner-up, and consolation awards were given to Zi En and Jia Tao.
“In an effort to inject new vitality into Kulai, this initiative aims to promote dance culture while fostering a deeper appreciation for the region’s artistic heritage. By discovering and nurturing local dance talent, we provide a platform for emerging performers. Additionally, the project is expected to stimulate community engagement and drive local development, bringing increased traffic to the area,” said a representative from Galaxy Groove.
The event drew a highly supportive crowd, filling The Commune with cheers, energy and a shared passion for K-pop. K-Wave Showdown 2025 proved not only to be a competition but also a celebration of youth creativity, unity and cultural expression.
The competition was powered by The Commune, Kulai, Kulai Long Sheng Food Sdn Bhd, MRT Furniture Market, Dian Xin Yuan, Hermeal, U Love Florist and Top One Learning Centre, in supporting the growth of Johor’s vibrant performing arts community.
With overwhelming participation and positive community response, Galaxy Groove aims to make K-Wave Showdown an annual highlight in Johor’s performing arts scene, continuing to elevate local talent and strengthen the growing dance community in the region.
Riding on the wave, the organising team is also providing a healthy and competitive platform for youth to share their passion and enthusiasm for Korean pop culture.
