Presented for the first time by the Malaysia Budget & Business Hotel Association (MyBHA) Johor Chapter, the Johor’s Best Budget & Business Hotel Awards 2024 recognised ten hotels across five categories.
The Chairman of MyBHA Johor Chapter and event organising chairman, Jarod Chia Lik Ming highlighted that the awards aim to recognise business hotels in Johor that excel in service, innovation, and exceptional value. Beyond the competition, the awards will set a benchmark for all budget & business hotels in Johor. Additionally, this initiative is expected to boost the visibility of all MyBHA-registered hotels in marketing efforts.
The gala dinner successfully attracted 530 attendees, 45% of whom were MyBHA hoteliers.
Jarod Chia in his welcoming address also stated that nearly a year of preparation went into organising the Johor’s Best Budget & Business Hotel Awards. The awards align with the goals of the Johor state government and tourism board, which aim to attract more tourists by 2026 and stimulate local economic performance.
“This event also fulfils the Johor Chapter’s commitment to improving business hotel standards and enhancing regional tourism experiences. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to all members and sponsors for their support and recognition of the association,” he said.
“The momentum that we had achieved belongs to all MyBHA hoteliers. Winning or not does not define good or bad, nor does it create comparisons of victory or defeat. Instead, it provides an important benchmark for all hotel operators in hospitality transformation with the 4 key objectives of RISE—Rebrand, Improve, Strengthen, and Educate, which aim to attract more local and international tourists, boost their confidence, and encourage extended stays.”
The awards ceremony was officiated by Raven Kumar Krishnasamy, State Unity, Heritage and Culture Committee chairman, as the official representative of Johor’s Menteri Besar, Dato’ Haji Mohd. Noorazam bin Dato’ Haji Osman, Mayor of Johor Bahru City Council (MBJB), SAC Chuah Yong Huat, Head of Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, Johor Contingent Police Headquarters (IPK Johor), Sharil Nizam bin Abdul Rahim, Director of Tourism Johor, Nurazlin binti Abdul Talib, Director of MOTAC Johor, Prof. Dr Rosli bin MD Illias, Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) UTM, and Dr Sri Ganesh Michiel, MyBHA President were also in attendance.
The “Johor’s Best Budget & Business Hotel Awards 2024” is regarded as one of the most prestigious hotel evaluation events in recent years, MyBHA said in its statement.
