Johor will soon build another COVID-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) at the Permai Hospital near Johor Bahru after the PKRC at the Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG) Indoor Stadium and the private PKRC at DB Complex – Making it the third PKRC in Johor according to Menteri Besar Johor Datuk Ir. Haji Hasni Mohammad.

In an exclusive interview at his office on 2nd June, he stated, “A district officer is now preparing the necessary papers to determine how many beds and mattresses the new centre will require.”

He stated that just one Permai Hospital facility will be used as the PKRC for patients in categories one and two, i.e. asymptomatic or minimally symptomatic patients, as well as for mothers and their sons who had previously been separated.

At the same time, the state government has chosen another PKRC site in Kluang, the old KPJ Kluang Specialist Hospital, but this is subject to demand and necessity.

“Because they have moved to a new building, the KPJ Kluang Specialist Hospital has provided us free use of their former facility and amenities. Hasni estimates that the existing building can hold 400 to 450 beds.

The PKRC at MBPG Indoor Stadium currently has a capacity of 1,043 beds, whereas the PKRC at DB Complex currently has 395 beds.

He further stated that as of 26th May, the MBPG Indoor Stadium had a 91% bed occupancy rate, with 952 patients in categories one and two.
