Newly appointed Johor Police Chief CP Ab Rahaman Arsad aims to promote change and integrity through the ‘GREAT’ values of Good Governance, Responsibility, Empathy, Accountability, and Tenacity of Purpose.

According to Bernama, Ab Rahaman, a Johor native, is serving in his home state for the first time in his career.

As Johor’s 67th police chief, he intends to boost the state’s law enforcement and administration by leveraging his significant police experience.

At his first press conference at the Johor Police Contingent Headquarters, he emphasised three key objectives: providing professional and ethical policing services, improving service delivery and governance, and improving the welfare of Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) troops in Johor.

“These three areas align with the national direction of PDRM, but I intend to add value through the GREAT principles to guide all Johor police personnel,” he said.

Ab Rahaman recognised Johor’s strategic importance as a result of its border with Singapore and proximity to Indonesia, stating that the state serves as a major national entrance point and a hub for economic, social, and political activities.

He stated that preserving public safety and order in such a dynamic environment necessitates a high level of preparation throughout the force.

“Johor’s 10,000-strong police force is its greatest asset in tackling current challenges, including cross-border crime and drug trafficking.

“I’m confident that with the cooperation of department heads and district police. chiefs, we can uphold a high level of safety and public confidence in Johor,” he added.

Ab Rahaman succeeds Datuk M. Kumar, who has been appointed Director of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department.
